Colussy’s 17,279-square-foot Jupiter estate at 161 Bear’s Club Drive comes with five bedrooms, eight bathrooms, four half-bathrooms, custom designed ceiling murals, as well as marble and wood flooring throughout the house. Records show Colussy bought the land for $2 million in 2003 and finished construction in 2009.
Colussy’s mansion is listed at about $723 per foot.
It features a whopping 2,300-square-foot master suite, a gas fireplace, built-in walnut bookshelves, a fitness center and a balcony overlooking its fruit and vegetable gardens and 37,000-gallon swimming pool.
Colussy gained national coverage for saving the 66-satellite Iridium network in 2000. The network is known for helping Marines, Navy SEALs and other U.S. troops communicate in combat, but is scrutinized for its unintentional use by illegal traffickers.
The 85-year-old Colussy still considers Iridium a “marvel of engineering and innovation,” according to the Palm Beach Post.
Other notable Jupiter residents include Gary Nicklaus, son of legendary professional golfer Jack Nicklaus, who bought land at 209 Bears Club Drive for $1.65 million in 2005. And Florida golf Pro Rickie Fowler bought his 11,624-square-foot mansion just north of Jupiter in October for $12.55 million or $1,080 per foot.
