Nestled just south of Palm Beach is the exclusive beach community of Manalapan. Offering breathtaking views and convenient access to a wide array of water-based recreational activities, Manalapan real estate has quickly come to be viewed as a smart investment. Bounded by Lake Worth Lagoon, Boynton Inlet, and the Atlantic Ocean, this serene community offers residents a lifestyle that is unsurpassed in terms of tranquility.

Although it is sometimes commonly thought that the town is named for a city in New Jersey bearing the same name, this Florida community actually takes its name from an Indian word that means ‘good bread.’ The first homestead in the area was granted to George H.K. Carter by President Benjamin Harrison in 1889. At the time, the town remained without a name. It was not until 1931 that the name of Manalapan was bestowed on the community.

Manalapan may be a small beachside community, but it has made its way into the media on more than one occasion. In 1977, the presidential yacht was auctioned at a club in Manalapan in a symbolic gesture of reducing federal spending. Manalapan also served as a filming location in 1989 for the film “Body Heat,” starring Kathleen Turner and William Hurt.

Over the years, the community of Manalapan has managed to preserve its stunning natural beauty while simultaneously adding modern amenities. Today, the town is comprised two completely separate geographical areas. One area, located between South Lake Worth Inlet and Lantana Public Beach, is often known as Boynton Inlet. The other section, situated near the southern end of Hypoluxo Island, has become known for its secluded locale.

Residents of Manalapan are able to truly enjoy the best of both worlds with a secluded location right on some of the most beautiful waterfront property in the country along with easy access to world-class shopping, dining, entertainment, and recreational activities. Given the upscale housing options available in Manalapan, the natural beauty of the surrounding area and the nearly perfect year-around climate, it is easy to see why so many people are now considering the purchase of Manalapan real estate.

Whether you are interested in a waterfront estate, townhome or condo, there is certain to be an option in the Manalapan real estate market to meet your needs. If the concept of condo living appeals to you, many of the units here range from two to three bedrooms and provide an ample amount of living space along with a host of amenities. For discerning buyers who require additional living space, there are many Manalapan homes for sale in the local area that often offer five or more bedrooms and feature several thousand feet of living space along with beach or waterfront views.
